Heavy Armor Float - TANK Rev2 by eRe4s3r Heavy Armor Float - TANK Rev2 by eRe4s3r
The "Showcase" submission of this tank, scene (night + fire effects) is coming too ;)

350000 polygons and a revised Leopard Track Base, fits imo quite nicely, full view required (Download)

---

Since floaty was hit by a stray bullet the engineers had a robot turret with no float... so they put it on a tank chassis! ;)

---

Rendering was made with Cinema 4D - With lights, CEL and Brightness/Contrast tuning in PS.

Why full of Heavy Tank design look more like anti-air vehicles than real tanks...

BTW nice rending.

It's the logical evolution imo ;)

But aside that, it just looks cooler ;)

Wow, this tank is looking very good !

For the vents issue you could cover them with 2 protection grills or so.

how do you get into 3-d digital art? you just do it with some kind of program?

Sure, all it takes is a program and some years of practice and learning. Mostly following tutorials and then doing your own thing ;)

This looks completely hardcore, but I'm a little curious why some seemingly important components are unarmored- especially for a heavily armored tank like this one. I'm going to guess that its for the tech/cool factor (it's art after all!), but it just seemed a tad impractical that there's plating for the side of the primary weapon's barrel, but not for the cables strung on the outside.

Nonetheless this bleeds firepower. It has my stamp of approval! =D

Well ;P Just 25% of the cabling is exposed to a single side at any time ;) But the real reason is that adding armor to cover those cables would have made the turret wider than the tracks. Since i wanted it to match up in width it was kinda required to leave that exposed.. or remove it.

Then again, maybe its just decoy cabling ;p

Ready to blow shit up? :onfire: Hehe.

In all seriousness, planning on rigging the treads?

They are animated and aligned along a spline path (so they run a full 0-100% through the path and loop) ... not gonna rig them beyond that. Can't really do any animations anyway with that kind of polycount and procedural shaders used...
