Well, i remade my original Grappler model (hence mk3 .p)..

What you ask, why did the dude just remake an old model intead of doing something new? ;P

Obviously because this was my learning object for texturing, i followed some pretty nice tutorial (atleast some elements of it) And tested out my current problem zones with these techniques (Kinda sucks you can't edit mesh after uvw mapping it.. without messing it up)

While doing so, i improved/messed with the model a bit, gave it a nicer weapon and added some missiles in an totally random and nonsensical position ;)

Although i derivated from some points (Namely, i cheated my way around some uvw mapping parts .p)

Oppinions Flames and Money, all welcome ^^

I haven't yet decided wether to make a photocomp with this model, i think it *could* look great, but its a lot of extra effort required..

You go dude! Impressive!

Normally you can't edit the mesh after unwrapping. This changes the mesh and the unwrapping you did will no longer be valid. But if somehow you can collapse the entire model, like flattening the entire layer stack in Photoshop, you can edit the mesh safely. That's what I do in 3ds Max :)

Im like a child that found a new toy, and while i certainly am no stranger to cel shaders this one turned out to be better with than without.. ..

Anyway.. minature grappler, might very well happen next morning .p (When i can photo-comp a breakfast plate .p)

Or put my model in a realtime engine, sadly, for realtime i still need to figure out how to bake all the fancy shader effects in a texture

Would be nice if someone made a tutorial about

How to rig a Mechanical Object.. ;) Then i would make it move, that, and the 41 minute rendertime per frame.. stops me from doing animations (1 second has 30 or 25 frames)

Funny thing is, in my scraps you can watch how it turns from ok to ugly to extreme horrid to extremely well looking, textures with advanced shaders are so fragile and one little wrong setting breaks them ;/

90% of the time for my renderings are wasted on deciding which button to press to make it look better, with a 40% chance to make it look worse
