Description
Finally it is done.
You can se the "night" version here - [link]
You can see the AO pass here - [link]
This is like a complete overhaul of one my first real exterior scenes ( [link] )
The day name naturally implies a "night" version will follow.
Anyhow, whatever you do, please press "download" to see the image in full quality, or go fullscreen, or whatever Theres Details to see this time, not drastically many, but some quite interesting nonetheless.
---------------
In anticipation of some questions here are some answers
- Done in CINEMA 4D , with help of VUE Xstream (for plants) (however, i did not use the vue renderer for the plants, its all exported as obj into c4d, changed shaders and all - mainly because the way vue integrates into c4d is just.. not constructive at all)
- Rendertime was just 2 hours!
- The scene file is 35mb (hehe) and loading it requires 160mb of memory
- 34 Custom shaders (often multi-layer and procedural) are used
- 2365000 polygons with 9820 objects
--------
Plant things.
- The plants are spread through the scene via c4d's AWESOME instance feature. Basically i "place" a patch of ground cover off-screen (not in view of the camera) and instead of creating billions of objects which all have their own uv i just have 1 object with 1 uv - but instanced 400 times. The clue is this doesn't just work for 1 object, you can "instance" entire subsets of a scene, complex ground cover arrangements with multiple deformers and even nurbs.
--------
Light
Standard GI and Sun, some omni lights, but mainly because I prepared the night and day versions in 1 scene.
--------
PostEditing
Naturally with photoshop, made it nicer, no drastic changes (though glow was added where it could not be in c4D due to how i made the scene....) - Generally i only use photoshop for "atmosphere" - dust, glow, blur, and color (or the removal of such ,p).
